Where shipping mistakes come from
Most wrong-item shipments are not carelessness. They come from look-alike items on the same shelf, labels swapped at a busy packing table, two people working the same orders, and stock that moved without anyone writing it down. Each one is expensive: under the eBay Money Back Guarantee, when a seller sends the wrong item the seller pays for the return shipping.
How pick, scan and ship works
- Sales import from eBay. Orders normally refresh every 10 minutes and appear in Sales to pull.
- Go straight to the shelf. Each order shows the SKU and the shelf where Package Mover last recorded the item.
- Confirm and pull the item. Check that you have the right physical item before marking it pulled.
- Scan the item and the shipping label. The app checks the pulled item against the order, then checks that the label’s tracking barcode matches the tracking on that order. Both checks appear together, so everyone can see what has been verified.
- Finish the shipment, or undo a mistake. Once both checks pass, finish the shipment and let it sync. An unship option is there if something needs correcting.
Marking an order complete on the website is a manual action, not a physical barcode check. Use the phone app when you want the item and label verified.
Work as a team without double-handling orders
Pulled and shipped progress is shared between employees in current app versions, so the whole team can see which orders are already pulled or shipped. Changes made offline sync when the phone reconnects. On the website, the Shipped tab in Sales to pull shows each shipped order with its SKU, the employee, the completion time and whether it was scanned and verified or marked shipped manually.
Labels that make picking faster
Print SKU labels and shelf labels from the website in common sizes like 2 × 1 and 4 × 6 inches, or enter your own size. Each label prints as its own exact-size page with a Code 128 barcode the app can scan. If you are starting from scratch, our guide on how to stop shipping the wrong item on eBay lays out a packing-station routine that pairs well with scanning.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a special scanner to verify shipments?
No. The Scanmerce app for iPhone and Android scans the item and the shipping label with the phone’s camera.
Do I have to buy shipping labels through Scanmerce?
No. Keep buying labels the way you do today. The app compares the label’s tracking barcode with the tracking on the eBay order.
Can several employees pick and ship at the same time?
Yes. Current app versions share pulled and shipped progress between employees. Keep every device updated and let offline changes sync before another device relies on them.
Can I see who shipped an order?
Yes. The Shipped tab on the website shows the employee, the completion time and whether the order was scanned and verified or marked shipped manually.
